He shows the Swede pictures of his late daughter, Carrie, and his oldest son, Michael, lawyer in Lincoln. After sharing whiskey with the Swede, Scully fails to take control over him. Eventually when both of them return to the main room, Johnnie and Swede resume cards playing. Apparently, the Swede has transitioned from being nervous, timid to acting offensive, domineering. Suddenly, he alleges Johnnie is cheating on the game, which the boy denies. In return, the boy tries to challenge the Swede to a fight in the freezing wind. Unfortunately, the Swede defeats him and then leaves the hotel and heads to saloon in town. Upon entering the salon, he asks the occupants to join him in drinking as he celebrates the victory. However, they are not interested. Offended by the Swedes annoying behaviour, a local and reputable gambler murder him with a blade.The last scene takes place in a little ranch near Dakota line months later. Talks between the cowboy and the Easterner depict this. The discussion is about who might take responsibility over the Swedes murder where the Easterner confesses that Johnnie was truly cheating. He says that he should have been honest instead of leaving the Swede to fight it out alone. The Easterner goes ahead and accuses all the five- himself, the cowboy, Johnnie, old Scully and Swede for collaborating in the murder. However, the cowboy denies taking responsibility for the Swedes murder (Crane, 1996).Significantly, the writer uses figurative language, which involves the use of stylistic devices and several literary techniques to create effects in the reader and the society (Watson, 2008, p. 12).This story, employs the elements of fear as well as control from in the whole story. The title of the story do not exclusively show the relationship between the characters, but also how people conquer their own disturbing emotions such as fear, aspirations, and desire for control. Each character caught in a situation that causes the disturbing feelings responds differently. These emotions have affected Scully, the Swede, the gambler and the readers. The title portrays an aspect of symbolism. The opening description of the hotel by referring to it as The Palace Hotel is very significant as it gives the reader a feeling and sensation that the title has a hidden meaning. Personification is evident in this description of the hotel in that the writer gives it the ability to scream and howl. This suggests that there has been a series of murders in the room. The writ er goes forth to depict the scary scene in the small hotel room by comparing it to a temple of the enormous stove that is hummed with violence. This creates control over the reader and creates caution among them.Crane cleverly portrays nature by giving weather human qualities such as the ability to look out through small windows in the main room where the men could see a sea of snow, and the wind described as "huge arms" that attempted to embrace the flakes while they sped. The writer uses metaphors in describing the men going into the storm by using the phrase as they plunged into the tempest as into a sea." This evokes emotions and show how wild and raging the snowstorm is. In addition, it captures the readers attention into imagining the mellow cry of blizzards. When the old farmer who is originally playing cards quarrels with Johnnie, foreshadows Johnnies cheating. Presumably, he also believes that the boy cheated in the card game. This gives a hint on the boys predilection fo r cheating. In turn, this indirectly leads to the successive events that led to the Swedes death. First, the climax of the story appears to be the fight between Johnnie and the Swede, however, as story continues the true climax happens when the gambler stabs the Swede to death in the bar. Irony exists in the conversation between the Easterner and the cowboy at Dakota line when the former reveals that Johnnie was truly cheating and the Swedes allegation was correct. The Easterner acknowledges his responsibility in the death of the Swede as he takes a community perspective and blaming the entire social and cultural environment. However, the cowboy denies the allegations. As a result, it is evident that, the choices people make and the risks they take have consequences at the end. This discussion also provides expository details in regards to the fate and circumstances accompanying the death of the gambler.Juxtaposition occurs when the writer introduces the Swede to the reader. The Swe de does everything to the contrary of what others are doing. Hour presents love as being times enemy, whereas, Sonnet 43 presents love as absolute and unconditional. Both poets see love as being precious and worth more than life itself. Barrett Browning shows love as lasting forever, but Duffy feels that love can’t last forever. Sonnet 43 is an old fashioned poem; you can see this from the form. It uses iambic pentameter which creates the feeling of real speech, as though she is truly saying it to her husband. Women were perceived as being inferior (intellectually and physically) to men. As we all know, the women were supposed to spend their time in the house cleaning, cooking, and taking care of the children. Although, we must take into account that this was mostly the biased perspective of the men of the time. As time progressed, the submissive female role changed. Their presence became much more prevalent as time went on. Mozarts apparent personal perspective of women, which was demonstrated in his many operas, did not seem to correlate with the universal perspective of woman at the time. His perspective of women portrayed in The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni is much more like todays perspective than the perspective of his time. In The Marriage of Figaro, the women are portrayed as intelligent, cunning, wise, and faithful. In The Marriage of Figaro, the wome n are presented with the problem of dealing with their jealous and lustful husbands. Ironically, it is the lower class woman, Susanna, who provides the needed leadership and wisdom when it comes to solving the problem. She is the one that comes up with the idea to change clothes with the Countess to test the fidelity and loyalty of the Count. It might have been expected for a man to come up with a plan so clever, or at least for the upper class and supposedly more intelligent Countess to come up with the idea, but low and behold, the lowly servant comes through with the great idea. In comparison with the males in the opera, the women are portrayed with much more fidelity and loyalty especially towards their spouses. The men are portrayed as foolish, lustful, and jealous when it comes to love. The Count is the worst he displays lustfulness, jealousy and above all, hypocrisy. He lusts after Susanna and expects her to break her promise of fidelity to her fianc Figaro. He also gets jea lous when Cherubino tries to court the Countess. By doing this, he creates a double standard for him and the Countess. He feels that he should be allowed to act unfaithfully, while his wife is to remain completely faithful. The Count also portrays a very deceitful side when tries to entice Susanna. He puts on a faade just to convince her to sleep with him. Susannas also portrays a somewhat deceitful side, although hers is there to expose the deceitfulness of the Count. In Don Giovanni, the women in the opera are portrayed somewhat, although not entirely different than they are in The Marriage of Figaro. They do not seem to be on the same level of wisdom and intelligence as they were in Don Giovanni. On the other hand, the men are also portrayed as much more evil and deceptive as well. The women were portrayed as being very emotional in Don Giovanni. Donna Anna is the most emotional character in the opera. She is very vengeful (rightly so) when it comes to her fathers death and very vengeful toward the murderer himself. This distressfulness is most evident in the scene when she gives the account of the night of the murder to her husband Don Ottavio. We dont see any of the male characters display this kind of free emotion. Donna Elvira, the ex-fianc, is another one of the main female characters in the opera. She is also a very emotional character. When she meets Don Giovanni in the opera, she exhibits a great amount of sadness and despair towards her former lover. She is also portrayed as being very nave when it comes to the reputation and intentions of Don Giovanni. She is easily deceived by Don Giovannis false promises and empty flattery. Even though he had already left her once, she is foolish enough to believe him again. And in the end, it turns out (as expected) that Don Giovannis promises and words of flattery were all just a total sham. The audience watches as Donna Elvira is yet again duped by her former lover. Zerlinas situation is very similar to that of Donna Elvira. She is wooed by Don Giovanni and convinced by his false promises. She is also nave as to his intentions towards the opposite sex. She is unaware that Don Giovanni has a reputation of being deceitful, shrewd, and very persuasive when it comes to convincing women that he loves them. Mozarts perspective of women is displayed in the characters of the women in his operas. He therefore perceives women the way the audience would have perceived the women in his operas. For that reason, he perceived women as very intelligent, wise, and emotional people. One has to wonder just how different Mozarts perspective of women was compared to that of the current time. A pro-gun website was the creator of this ad and their motivation for making this was in response to multiple ad's that depicted children and suggested stricter gun control laws. This ad is promoting pro-gun laws and teachers being able to be equipped with firearms in schools. The target audience of this ad would be the people in favor of anti-gun laws that would take guns away from people that have the opportunity to protect others in case of an emergency. Through the use of imagery and the text that is depicted, it promotes teacher s being able to protect their students with guns. One of the rhetorical strategies used is through the use of the text on the chalkboard. The text affects the ad by evoking an emotional response from the audience when they see this ad. The ad is using the text to inform the reader that if they trust the teacher enough to send their child to school to be with them, they should trust the teacher enough to have a gun to be able to protect their child. Retardation did remain as part of the diagnostic vocabulary until the publication of the DSM V. What Is Mild Intellectual Disability (MID), Also Referred to as Mild Mental Retardation? Many of the characteristics of MID correspond to those of Learning Disabilities. The intellectual development will be slow, however, MID students have the potential to learn within the regular classroom given appropriate modifications and/or accommodations. Some MID students will require greater support and/or withdrawal than others will. MID students, like all students, demonstrate their own strengths and weaknesses. Depending on the educational jurisdiction, criteria for MID will often state that the child is functioning approximately 2-4 years behind or 2-3 standard deviations below the norm or have an IQ under 70-75. An intellectual disability may vary from mild to profound. How Are MID Students Identified? Depending on the education jurisdiction, testing for MID will vary. Generally, a combination of assessment methods is used to identify mild intellectual disabilities. It consisted of a series of unlawful events which was later attributed to certain important officials serving under the administration of the then US President Richard Nixon. They had wanted to secure some confidential information which would help them to secure the victory of Nixon in the US Presidential Elections of 1972. After the incident, members of the Nixon government tried to cover up the event and shield the men involved in the crime. Eventually, the US Police arrested the seven officials who had committed the burglary and implicated them on the basis of available evidence. Even, President Nixon was found guilty of a ttempting to shield the incident from being leaked out to the general people. Ultimately, Nixon had to resign from US Presidentship in the year 1974. The Watergate Scandal represented a series of unprecedented political events, which witnessed a US President resigning from his office for the first time in history. On June 16, 1972, seven American citizens planned a burglary in the office headquarters of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) of the USA. The office was situated in the Watergate complex of Washington D.C, in one of the six buildings located over there. On the night of the robbery, the seven men gathered in the Watergate Hotel, situated in the same complex, which gave them easy access to the nearby DNC office. The actual attempt to secure the confidential information was carried out by five men, while two of them stayed back at the hotel to warn the others of any imminent danger. The burglars had also stationed an eighth man in a building, just in front of the DNC off ice, who would also be able to detect any dangerous signals. He was supposed to inform the two men in the hotel who in turn would convey this to the group of five intruders. As the five men made their up to the DNC office on the sixth floor of the concerned building, they placed recording tapes across the doors opening to the stairway on every floor. This would prevent the door from locking, thus leaving a route for the burglars to escape in case of any trouble. However, one of the security guards of the building found out this anomaly and informed the police. The Police arrived immediately and arrested the five men from the DNC office. The policemen were in plain clothes, and so the burglars’ watchmen were not alerted in time to inform the intruders of the lurking danger. The actual identities of the seven men were revealed after their arrest and none of them were common thieves. The group was led by G. Gordin Liddy and E. Howard Hunt, both of whom were former agents of repu ted intelligence agencies of the US. Liddy was a retired agent of the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation, while Hunt had the experience of working with the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency). They were assisted by five other men in this burglary: James McCord bore the telephone bugs, Bernard Barker carried cameras to secure photographs of the confidential documents, Virgilio Gonzales was responsible for breaking the locks of
